As yoga therapy continues to evolve as a practice and profession, clients and organizations (including healthcare institutions) will look for professional certification or licensure of those who identify themslves as "yoga therapists". Presently, the preeminent body for such certification is the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). IAYT is a professional organization for yoga therapy practitioners, educators, and professionals from other healthcare fields with whom yoga therapists work in partnership.
As an IAYT-accredited program, students who successfully complete the required coursework (outlined below) are eligible to apply for IAYT Certification (C-IAYT). Post-program requirements for this certification, such as a certifying examination, are solely determined by IAYT and listed on their Web site. Be sure to thoroughly review their information. Questions can be directed to Felicia Tomasko, program coordinator, at Felicia.Tomasko@lmu.edu.
