Prime of Life Yoga

Certificate in Prime of Life Yoga

This 50-hour specialty program is designed for yoga teachers looking to expand their skills to work with older populations whose needs differ from younger yoga students. This program will begin January 30, and allow for open enrollment through May 18. Details are below under General Information.

Instructor Larry Payne, Ph.D. introduces the program

Midlife in America is changing. Men and women between the ages of “40 something” to “70 something” are more active and adventuresome than ever before. They represent the largest population growth segment for Yoga.

The Prime of Life Yoga professional certificate program offers an overall lifestyle approach to Yoga that includes asana that is accommodating, covering everyday biomechanics, management of common aches and pains and weight reduction with Yoga, gait training, stress reduction and sleeping tips.

Who Should Participate

This is a specialty program for Yoga teachers and dedicated students focusing on Yoga for midlife and beyond. The concept is a partial home study of 25 hours combined with a 25-hour four day intensive course.

Program Benefits

Students will be trained in techniques for teaching yoga to older populations whose needs differ from younger yoga students. By developing routines and behaviors that cultivate positive thinking and acceptance of the aging process, these students of yoga will gain a heightened sense of self-worth and peace of mind. Yoga Alliance has agreed to count this as continuing education credit for their program.
